Production Diary
November-February Production/Research & Planning
8th November
Today I began my research; looking at other newspaper tabloid and broadsheet and the difference between the two, I then wrote the intentions for my final projects and what I wish to achieve. Whilst looking at other newspaper I’ve annotated ones with key factors that I need to take into consideration when designing my own. I have also begun research my ancillary products which I have choose to produce a radio advert and a billboard.
17th November
I have finished my radio advert and billboard research today, so I have began designing my layout for my newspaper potential ideas, I have also decided on the name of my newspaper today Salford Scribble. I have begun looking at fonts on dafont.com, comparing them to real newspaper so it looks more realistic. I have also written 2 questionnaires I plan on asking my target audience so my newspaper includes everything that would target and attract them. I plan to get these handed out the next few days and then I’m going to get my results wrote up at weekend.
23rd November
Today I looked at my results and how I am going to apply them to my newspaper for example the colour scheme people preferred most was Red, Black and white. I have also mind mapped some ideas for the articles for the front and middle pages. After I finished doing this I began writing the articles out so I have them prepared, so I can just put them in my layout.
9th December
I have finished my draft of my articles, so now I have to arrange photographs to match my stories. I have taken a number of different ones and I have started to edit them in Photoshop so that they fit with my newspaper.
15th December
I am going to break up for Christmas so over the holiday, I plan on picking a definite font and layout for my newspaper, and plan a layout for my Billboard and a script for my radio advert.
4th January
Over the holidays I managed to get everything done that I said I would except for my script for my radio advert. So today I wrote it out and looked for some music that could accompany it on Premiere.
9th January-24th February
Over these few weeks I pieced together my newspaper front cover and middle page, I also decided adverts and a weather forecast to be included in my newspaper. I also have finished my billboard which I have taken a photograph of Salford Quays and I have included this seeing it is the city my newspaper is set. I have also recorded my radio advert. It took a number of different drafts for each which I have documented for my blog to show the steps to my final piece. I have added my final products to my Facebook account to recieve feedback on them and I attactched a few questions for them to answer to them with my feedback (a focus group). All I have to now do is produce a powerpoint on my Evaluation for my final products.
